Star pupil3/24/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() She plans to further her research in small satellite optimization and space technology, all while continuing to encourage young learners to become excited about a future career in STEM and expanding her tutoring business to help students enjoy learning, even when it may be challenging at times! Kelly is currently working towards obtaining her Master’s in Electrical Engineering at Texas State University. Kelly has also conducted research with Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) as an Electrical Engineering Electrostatics Modeling Intern, and collaborated on research with the Texas State Physics Department involving automated machine learning methods of astronomical sources, and is currently building and launching Texas State University’s first low-Earth orbiting satellite, satellite tracking antenna, and a satellite Muon and Gamma Ray detector for SSE, with goals to help students learn the basics of engineering and physics and its applications in the space technology industry. With these organizations, she coordinates outreach opportunities with schools in her community to teach kids about engineering and physics, and most importantly, provide an opportunity to help kids become interested in a STEM career field. Kelly currently holds leadership positions with the Astronomy Club, Society for Women Engineers (SWE) and Program Director for the SWE Mentoring Program, and is the Co-Founder and President of the Society for Space Exploration (SSE), which provides research and learning initiatives for students interested in Space Technology. Previously over the past 3 years, she also worked with the NASA FAMA program to develop STEM curriculum, give science and engineering presentations, and demonstrate experiments to students to help expand the availability of STEM resources to K-12 schools in diverse communities in Central Texas to provide an opportunity for students to become interested in a STEM related field. to develop STEM curriculum, help students explore careers in STEM, and provide college and career readiness workshops to help students jump-start their journey into attending an University for a STEM related degree. ![]() While working with NASA, she was a virtual mentor to NASA High School student interns located around the U.S. Having worked with kids of all ages for over the past 12 years, Kelly recently worked and collaborated with NASA and the LBJ Research Institute at Texas State University as a research assistant to help expand students’ knowledge in STEM careers and provide accessible learning opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to diverse and underrepresented K-12 students in Central Texas and in the U.S. This also includes Planechase and Commander format legal cards that are used in their respective format.Kelly Stephenson is a recent graduate earning her Bachelors of Science in Technology in Electrical Engineering Technology and a minor in Physics from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
